My letter flies,
My letter floats.
It even takes the train.
Through gloomy nights
and sunny days,
and even in the rain.
It's on a truck.
The miles add up.
It's far away from here.
It's on a long,
cross-country trip,
but should be getting near.
It finally comes
to your front door.
It took so long to haul!
My letter flew
from me to you,
but next time I'll just call!
Julie, I LIKE your verses describing a letter's journey! Great rhyme and rhythm!
ReplyDeleteI'm moaning about postage going up in May because I love to send and receive snail mail, and letter writing is becoming a lost art in this techno-age.
Thank you, Jane. I love snail mail too, and try to send it regularly. My hand gets tired from writing (because I tend to write long letters when I actually get around to it), but I think it's worth it.
ReplyDeleteI think John and Paul put a poem of this title to music.
