Do you speak American?
Paul McCain posted a link to a fabulous website which showed all sorts of variations of dialects and accents from all over the U.S. I have been trying to find it again, but can't!

Today, I did find this website, though. Take the test and see if you are a Yank or a rebel. Fun!

  2. 40% Dixie--definitely a yankee. What about you?

  3. I scored 53% Dixie (Barely Dixie). How can that be right?

  4. I don't know, Peter. That is funny. The ones that I think are interesting are the PA/Ohio ones. Jacob definitely says "hoagie" instead of sub, and "soda" instead of "pop." He sometimes slips in a "yunz" instead of "you all." And he says "bookbag" instead of "backpack." He's a Pennsylvania boy in a lot of ways!

Well, in the first quiz, I scored 48% Dixie (somehow) and Barely in Yankeedom. In the advanced quiz, I scored 30% Dixie (truer) and Dandy Yankee Doodle!

  6. Yeah, like Jacob, I'm definitely pro-hoagy, and pro-soda. I probably leaned more Dixie because of the food terms I've learned from Emeril and the Food Network.

  7. I was 48% Dixie, which, having grown up in Indiana and Kansas, is probably pretty accurate. Although I did have certain answers that were influenced by almost 15 years in Milwaukee and the Chicago burbs.
